What is Pneumonia?
Pneumonia is a respiratory infection characterized by inflammation of the air sacs in one or both lungs. This inflammation can lead to the filling of air sacs with fluid or pus, resulting in symptoms like coughing, chest pain, fever, and difficulty breathing.
A variety of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi can cause Pneumonia. It exhibits a spectrum of severity, affecting individuals of all ages, with heightened risks for those with compromised immune systems, the elderly (mostly of old age, i.e., above 65 years), and young children (mostly under 5 years).
