While some enjoy these long holidays traveling to unexplored destinations.

These are some travel safety tips you should know before setting your journey for Dashain-Tihar.
1. Schedule a Doctor’s Consultation Prior to Your Trip
Give your doctor all the information they require to provide you with the best travel health advice.
Tell them where you’re going, for how long, what you’ll be doing, and your medical history, including whether you’ve recently undergone surgery, suffered a heart attack or stroke, have a history of blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or pulmonary embolism (PE), or if you have a chronic illness, a disability, or a weakened immune system.

2. Carry a First Aid Kit

It is important to carry adequate regularly consumed medication along with general medications for travel sickness, headache, and painkillers such as paracetamol, aspirin, etc.
The first aid kit must also contain prerequisite basics such as cotton swabs, gauze, adhesive first aid tapes, elasticated bandage wrap for sprains and strains, a thermometer, pair of scissors and tweezers, etc.
3. Wash Your Hands and Sanitize Constantly

Since COVID-19 has not been fully terminated yet, there still lies a risk to contract the virus. Although you have had all your vaccines, you must be careful.
If you’re traveling and there isn’t soap or water available, think about using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol as its base. When using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, make sure to do so on the palm of your hand before rubbing it all over your hands and fingers until it dries.
The few seconds you spend washing your hands and sanitizing them could greatly improve your trip or prevent you from needing to visit the doctor!
4. Prevent bug and animal bites
Nepal is facing a dengue outbreak at the moment.
Travelers should be cautious about bug bites during traveling more than any other time. Since, people are unsure about how sanitary and well prevented the area is, one must always take preventive measures first.
You must carry insect repellents, try wearing long-sleeved clothes, and if possible try sleeping under mosquito nets.
You should also avoid petting dogs and cats along the roadside. These animals may not have been vaccinated which increases the chances of transmitting rabies and tetanus through their bite.
5. Get enough exercise
Travels can be lengthy. This requires you to sit in one place motionless for a long duration.
