Hib vaccination helps protect infants and young children from life-threatening infections such as meningitis, pneumonia, and epiglottitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib).
At Clinic One, we provide timely Hib vaccination according to the recommended childhood immunisation schedule to help build early protection.
Haemophilus influenzae Type b (Hib)
Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) is a bacterium that can cause serious invasive infections, particularly in infants and young children. Hib disease can lead to life-threatening conditions such as meningitis, pneumonia, epiglottitis, bloodstream infections (sepsis), and permanent complications, including hearing loss or neurological damage.
Routine childhood vaccination has significantly reduced the incidence of Hib disease worldwide and remains the most effective way to protect children during the age when they are most vulnerable.
Many parents have questions before the Hib vaccination, including:
- Whether their child should receive the Hib vaccine.
- Whether catch-up vaccination is required after missed doses.
- At what age should Hib vaccination begin?
- Where to receive safe and reliable Hib vaccination services.
At Clinic One, our healthcare professionals provide personalised vaccination guidance and help parents follow the recommended Hib immunisation schedule based on their child’s age and vaccination history.
